Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Peru visas.

Do I need a visa to enter Peru?

Most nationalities don't. Peru grants 90–183 days of tourist entry visa-free to citizens of the Americas, EU, UK, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Israel, and many more. Visas before arrival are required for India, China, Cuba, and some African / Middle Eastern countries. Use our /apply flow to check your specific country.

What's the difference between a tourist visa and residency change-of-status?

A tourist visa is what you apply for at a Peruvian consulate abroad if your nationality requires one — it's a one-time entry permit for up to 183 days. Residency change-of-status is what you do once you're in Peru and want to stay long-term: you apply through Migraciones to switch your status to one of the resident categories (Rentista, Work, Family, etc.). Different process, different fee.

Which residency visa is right for me?

Rentista if you have $1,000+/month in pension income. Work if you have a Peruvian employer. Family if you're married to a Peruvian or have Peruvian children. Investor if you've invested in a Peruvian business. Independent Professional if you have a degree and clients. Our guides walk through each in detail.

Do I have to fly to Peru for the residency appointment?

No — that's the value of our service. We have a proxy who attends the in-person Migraciones appointment on your behalf, using a Spanish-language authorization letter we generate and email to you for signature.

How long does the process take?

Tourist visa: typically 5–15 business days for consular processing, plus our review time. Residency change-of-status: 30–90 days at Migraciones, depending on category and current backlog.

What if my visa is denied?

Pre-submission, our AI document review catches the vast majority of issues that cause denials. If the Peruvian government denies your application after we submit, we cannot guarantee a refund, but we'll appeal once on your behalf at no extra cost when grounds exist.

How do I contact you?
